Not too many things I want to express from this book. Surely this novel become good for me starting from the middle to the back, when Cassie had brought down his defenses to start liking Angle beyond her reputation. And the more interesting how Cassie tried to make a good reputation of Angle to his mother. Initially it was a bit slow anyway, and the two families who feud did not get too much my sympathy. Not too carried away with his story of traveling in one direction anyway, and not too could follow the locations that are used as well. But for its conflicts, I was carried away. Initially I was already anticipating that in the latter end of the story there would be a big change, because from the beginning to the middle of the story, ties between the two main characters were like the ending itself. I was a bit not comfortable at the ending,not comfortable at plot and conflict development. The conflict somehow become too complicated for this kind of thin novel. Not to mention how many characters here. Heck, many who chase to get Angle. I wonder how many times the scene about the purpose in this book. And it was enough to make me tired. This book is really good!!! Although in the beginning I was wondering, how could the story was about pirates, but when the story had entered the main problem when Drew was arrested, the story became increasingly difficult to ignore. As written in the synopsis, 'who is charming and who is captive', in this novel I often asked who was the hell actually the true captain here?. I really like Gabrielle who were kind and unyielding. I love these characters like Gabby, she did not have prejudice to others and she was very easy to forgive, she could always read all situations, and immediately straighten out misunderstandings. She was also brave, honest, and always tried to reverse the situation if the situation was not in accordance with her will. Drew figure appeared quite annoying coupled with its reputation of 'a lover in every port', but it never made Gabby lied to herself that she was not too concerned with that reputation. Because I read this series when Jeremy was 15 years old, so when I saw him at the age of 25 years, it feels like I've been following the story of Malory for 10 years. There are many reunions Malory - Anderson which again makes me want to read their novels. The figures who have married also feels more real as a happily married couple, but every couple always has a story full of conflict. Seeing the couple's partner along made me forget that in every story they have the hassle of the same complex as the novel I'm reading right now. It feels a bit strange but fun to see Jeremy finally decided to get married. Funny anyway, he is the most character who can not commit and finally declare himself surrendered to that image in the aisle. For the story, to be honest there are some emotions that did not feel up to the top and stopped. There are scenes that are too fast when the story could have been served with passionate emotion. I have not been this Malory series for such a long time, and now, when I read another, feels like I should open the other again. After I read this from the first book, I found that Johanna Lindsey has some uniqueness in her stories. That is the way she never forgot to make us open another book from the same series. She always makes us glance at the book before or afterwards. JL has always made me curious about the stories of other characters, though in this case I've read the other three books in this Malory series. When I read the first book, I felt compelled to read the story of James and Anthony. When I read The Present, I feel obliged to know the story between Warren and Amy roomates is unique. When I read the fourth book, I was intrigued by Jeremy's story that I had never read. The story in this book is rather complicated and difficult to follow. I mean, if I was asked to tell the story in detail from the beginning, I was definitely confused to answer.
